In addition to his ministry work, Bishop Holmes was employed at the Government Printing Office for 29 years. He retired on April 30, 1997.
He preached his confirmation sermon entitled, “It’s Going to Take Faith and Courage to Possess the Promises of God” on July 1, 1979. On December 4, 1993, he was installed as Pastor of Deliverance Church of Christ #1 in Carmody Hills, Maryland. Also, on Saturday, November 22, 2003, he was consecrated into the Office of Bishop.
Bishop Holmes is married to Pastor Dorothy Holmes and they reside in Washington, DC. He is the father of two children, Derrick and Stephanie, and is also a grandfather.
PASTOR DOROTHY HOLMES
Dorothy Melody Holmes was born in North Carolina. After graduating from high school, she moved to Washington, DC. Upon her arrival, she became an active member of Faith Temple #2 Original Freewill Baptist Church of twenty years. Under the leadership of the eminent Bishop L.N. Forbes, the Lord saved, sanctified and filled her with the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in tongues.
Minister Holmes has served the church as President of the Prayer Band Ministry, choir member and also Preacher of the Gospel. She participated in the Prince George’s Convalescent Home Ministry for many years.
In addition to her ministry work, Minister Holmes was employed at the Department of Homeland Security for 37 years. She retired on February 1, 2004.
She preached her confirmation sermon entitled, “Try God” on Sunday, May 25, 1969. She is an anointed woman of God. She operates in the following spiritual gifts: Preacher, Prophecy, Discernment, and Teacher. In order to gain more knowledge to facilitate the call on her life, Minister Holmes received several certificates in Biblical Studies through the Evangelical Training Association.
On Saturday, April 24, 2004, she was consecrated to the Office of Executive Pastor of Deliverance Church of Christ #1 in Carmody Hills, MD.
Minister Holmes is married to Bishop Bobby Holmes and they reside in Washington, DC. They have two children, Derrick and Stephanie, and she is also a grandmother.
